"I am passionate about helping teenagers toward their college goals and have done so successfully for 15 years as an academic coach, college consultant, and tutor. My philosophy is simple: an empowered student is an independent student. My goal is to help students be self-reliant in all of their endeavors. I’m a public speaker, thought leader, and a trusted resource." ​​                                     

My Background

Shauna Somers Greene has over 15 years experience as an academic coach. Shauna began her professional life in New York City, where she sold her first young-adult novel, Blink, to Random House. After moving back to Los Angeles, she taught screenwriting at Writer’s Boot Camp and was the Executive Assistant to the President of the Los Angeles Philharmonic during the building and opening of the Walt Disney Concert Hall. ​

​Shauna holds a B.S. from the University of Southern California and an M.A. in Critical Theory and Screenwriting from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.

Shauna’s experience as a writer has led to her area of speciality; college applications and facilitating the personal essay to be authentic by helping students unearth their own unique stories. Shauna became interested in working with teenagers while academically advising players on a high school football team. Since then she has helped hundreds of students find success at some of the best known public and independent schools in the Los Angeles area, as well as admission and athletic recruitment to universities.

​Shauna lives in Los Angeles with her husband, 19 year old daughter (who is away at college), 14 year old son, and rescue dog named Daisy.  When she’s not coaching students she can be found hiking, swimming, or working on her next novel.

Shauna works from her comfortable home office situated conveniently between West LA and the San Fernando Valley. Students primarily work with her on Zoom, but she is happy to accommodate students who prefer to work in person. She is also available by text if your student has a question or needs some academic advice on a project or essay.
